Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How often do you encounter a big billfish?
A. On the average, every third day. But we usually get a good bit of action even on days we don't get the big billfish.
Q. Can you target particular types of fish?
A. We sure can. We can find you mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, marlin -- whatever you're after.
Q. How long is the average fight?
A. For the really big guys, the average fight is about an hour -- although we had one fight last 36 hours (and that one got away!).
Q. What's the biggest fish you've ever landed?
A. More than 1000 pounds. Fish in the 900-1000 pound range are not uncommon. In fact, we were the first boat to land a "grander" (fish exceeding a thousand pounds) in 2003.
Q. What's the largest number of fish you've ever caught on one excursion?
A. We once pulled in 118 yellowfin tuna weighing from 6-20 pounds each.
Q. What kinds of baits do you use?
A. We use both lures and live bait.
Q. Do you guarantee I'll catch a big fish?
A. Nope, but we guarantee you'll have a great time!
Q. If I catch a fish, do I get to keep it, or do you sell it to defray your costs?
A. We always share out our fish rather than keep it.
